Play at the Theater of the Republic”
[5 of 5 stars] Reviewed August 25, 2015 [credit card] Amex Card Member Review

A friend introduced me to this theater. We have attended 2 plays presented there. Smokey Joe's Cafe and Sister Act. Both were exceptionally well done. The actors were superb. I would recommend anyone who loves the theater to go and see for yourself.Visited August 2015

All Shook Up is a new musical comedy built around a number of songs made famous by Elvis Presley. It's NOT a biographical revue. It takes place in 1955, somewhere in middle America, where one girl's dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock & roll. Among the 24 songs featured in the score are classics like "Heartbreak Hotel," "Love Me Tender," "Don't Be Cruel," "Can't Help Falling in Love," and of course the title tune.

"The Boy From Oz" tells about the life of the great Australian entertainer, Peter Allen. The show starts  in the 1950's with his humble beginnings growing up in an Australian bush town. He then experiences a meteoric rise to fame as an international star opening for Judy Garland and selling out week-long engagements at Radio City Music Hall. Later, Allen marries Garland's daughter, Liza Minnelli. Within a few years, Allen and Minnelli split due to Allen's homosexuality. Eventually, Allen - but before he dies, he is able to give one final concert back in his homeland.

We have been attending several shows each year since we moved to Conway, three years ago. We always go home feeling that we got to see a great performance. This year "Sister Act - the musical" was our favorite. If you ever get a chance to go - DO IT!Visited February 2016
